A good companion text alongside other neuroanatomy textbooks, offers a fresh perspective
Neuroanatomy by Crossman and Neary 2020, 6th edition, Elsevier, is a clear, succinct, well-written, well-illustrated and well-organized textbook. The authors put an emphasis on presenting current findings on the anatomy of the human nervous system within the ambit of this text that is devoted to the salient aspects of neuroanatomy. They also address the question “What do I need to know?”, which is an anathema to some teachers and instructors. In doing so, it is arguably the first textbook that covers the most important topics of neuroanatomy from a students’ perspective, thereby providing the essentials of current neuroanatomy. I cannot find errors or mistakes in the text. This manual contains beautiful illustrations, both drawings and photographs. Nevertheless, not all pictures are worth a thousand words. For example, Fig. 1.18 and 5.4 on pages 13 and 53, respectively, are worth only several words and therefore they should be replaced with clearer and better ones. I understand that such a small font size is due to the fact that the authors and publisher wanted to produce a very thin book. This text is illegible to me because the font size is too small. Such an outstanding text certainly deserves a larger font size. On balance, this is an excellent textbook that is highly recommended to all medical students, clinicians and basic scientists who have a need for such a clear and succinct text.
an excellent text for my course
Recommended for neuroanatomy section of medical programme teaching
Neuroanatomy remains one of the most challenging subjects to teach (alongside embryology). The source pairs excellent summary with accurate diagrams and well placed clinical caveats. I find myself regularly casting images from the book to the screen when my hand drawn diagrams fall short. Highly recommended / core.
Will be recommended as an additional resource for preparing for exams.
El manual está bien organizado, las imágenes son claras e ilustrativas para emplear en clase y creo que puede facilitar mucho el aprendizaje de los estudiantes
An excellent book for 1st Year students covering all the major basic concepts of neuroanatomy.
An excellent book for 1st Year students covering all the major basic concepts of neuroanatomy.
This is an excellent book for medical students to supplement neuroanatomy understanding
Es una buena síntesis que puede ser útil para estudiantes de titulacionesque necesiten un enfoque anatomofuncional de la neuroanatomía humana.
Due to little information on encephalic structures, I won't put as requested literature. Still, the number of details for the rest of the CNS is amazing, putting this book on the top of the recommended literature list.
Ideal combination of short text, schemes and photographic pictures.
Contenido claro y útil para asimilar conceptos básicos
Very good tool for repetition of neuroanatomy using text and having possibility to colouring the structures in illustrations.
I found this textbook suitable for my lecture. What is exceptional in this book is that the author did a great research before writing this book.
I recommend the textbook - it is of high professional, didactic and practical quality for students who want to explore the basics of neuroanatomy. I appreciate the pictures - both macroscopic (of fixed slides) and microscopic and also schematic. The text is supplemented with review and the clinical clarification of lesions of specific structures is of practical use.
Good book with necessary contents for allied health teaching purposes.
Neuroanatomy Atlas is a very welcomed source of information for teaching advanced courses. Students are able to maintain focus on the lecture and work with a good source of illustration. The atlas is easy to handle and it is very friendly for orientation for the students and for the lecturers as well.
An excellent introductory text. Light on neuroscience and more challenging scientific context, but very popular with students.
